Polished Stone

Polished stone has a shiny, mirror-like surface. Marble, granite, limestone, and travertine tiles and slabs are polished on large polishing machines, which progressively grind the stone from the rough saw-cut surface (visible on the backside of tiles or slabs) to a specular (mirror-like) finish. This is accomplished by finer and finer circular polishing heads moving over the surface of the slabs or tiles as they move along a polishing line until the desired finish is achieved. This is a process analogous to finishing wood, in which finer and finer sandpaper is used to smooth the surface.

What is the typical timeline for a countertop replacement project?

Most of our countertop replacement projects take about 2–4 weeks from initial consultation to final installation. The timeline largely depends on material lead times and when we can schedule measuring and template appointments.

Will you remove my old countertops?

Yes, our team safely removes and disposes of old countertops. Our boutique approach to our work means that we take care of everything.

What should I expect on installation day?

For most projects, the actual installation takes only a single day. However, this process can take several hours, involving countertop removal, installing the new one, and full site cleanup. In more complex cases that involve prep work for finish details, we may need more than one day. We will let you know ahead of time what to expect for the work phase. Expect some noise, and you may have limited use of the kitchen while we work.

Do your services include backsplash or accessory upgrades?

Our services can include any part of a kitchen redesign that you want. From backsplashes to sink cutouts, you can work with Sharon to build a package that ensures your kitchen looks cohesive and exactly as envisioned.

What maintenance is required after installation?

Maintenance will depend on your chosen material. Quartz countertops are very low maintenance, while materials like natural stone can require periodic sealing. Maintenance requirements certainly are part of the consultation, during which we provide clear details on what to expect with each material option.

Will replacing countertops affect my plumbing or electrical?

It can, but it depends on how appliances are integrated into the countertop area. If so, our team can handle any related steps to ensure everything is safely reinstalled and fully functional.

Can countertops be replaced without changing my cabinets?

If your cabinets are structurally sound and level, we can install new countertops on top of them. Sharon’s team will evaluate cabinet condition, support, and layout to ensure compatibility with the countertop replacement you want.
